How many API calls can I make to access a user’s bank account information? The answer to this depends upon the user scenario.
My user has clicked to view their account information
If your user has specifically taken an action which requires that your app queries their bank account data, you can make a query every time in response to the user action.
Possible scenarios could include:
- The user wants to see their up-to-date balance;
- The user wants to see their most recent transactions;
- The user wants to see their current overall financial position ;
- I am refreshing my user’s account information without them being present.
If your system is making an automated query of a user’s account information, the PSD2 Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) limit how many times you can access this data to four times per day. For more details, see Article 36 5(b) of the RTS, which can be downloaded here.
