Clients who are not regulated in their own right for payment initiation services, using our Payments API must follow these two information requirements:
1. Information before the initiation of a payment
The following information needs to be included in your user interface at the step before your customer proceeds to initiate a payment. It can be added in your existing screens and does not require an additional step to be added:
By continuing you are permitting TrueLayer to initiate a payment from your bank account. You also agree to TrueLayer’s end-user terms and privacy policy.

2. Information after the initiation of a payment
The following information needs to be provided to the end-user after the initiation of a payment (i.e. after the customer has been redirected back from the bank authentication page):
- Confirmation that the payment has been successfully initiated with the customer’s bank
- A payment reference (the same one that is passed to the bank and the customer would see on their bank statement)
- The amount of the payment transaction
- The amount of any charges for the payment initiation
The information can be provided to the end-user in different ways depending on what works best for your product:
- emailing/ texting this information to the end-user
- including a link to allow an end-user to download a PDF of the information
- having the information accessible for the customer to view on your app
